Full-Stack Engineer
Granter is building an AI agent that handles grants end-to-end. The AI Grant Consultant helps companies discover funding opportunities, draft stronger proposals faster, and manage funded projects after approval. Our mission is to enable businesses of all sizes to leverage incentives to grow and innovate. We are deeply involved in the Portuguese startup ecosystem and were the winners of the Web Summit Pitch Competition 2025.
We are now looking for a Full-Stack Engineer. A versatile builder who enjoys taking a problem and turning it into a working product, end-to-end.
What This Role Involves
Be part of the tech team, working closely with engineering, product, and leadership
You will start by learning the full system, then move into a cross-functional squad with full ownership of a specific domain
Take decisions, not just implement. You will help define how things are built.
This is not a “just ship tickets” role. We expect engineers to stay close to the problems and product outcomes, not just code
We aim to be at the frontier of vertical AI agents, and you are expected to help push that forward.
Use AI as part of your development workflow. We welcome it as a tool to move faster, not a replacement for engineering judgment
What We Are Looking For
This role is for someone versatile, ambitious, and willing to learn fast. Someone who enjoys figuring things out, taking ownership, and building across different parts of the system. We are looking for a builder. We care more about evidence than years, but below is the minimum baseline we believe you need to be effective:
Experience
2+ years of software development experience
Hands-on experience with Python
Experience with at least one JavaScript framework
Additional Plus
Experience working in a startup environment
Exposure to AI product interfaces or AI-assisted workflows
Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is a plus
Experience using AI-assisted development tools effectively (e.g. GitHub Copilot, Claude, Cursor) is a plus
Core Skills
Strong Python skills
Frontend fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Familiarity with APIs, application structure, and backend fundamentals
Experience with Tailwind CSS
Good engineering hygiene, including Git and basic testing practices
Nice to have: Django, LangChain, Vue.js, Celery, Docker, Azure
Communication
Clear and direct communicator
Able to explain technical decisions and tradeoffs
Fluent in English and Portuguese
Mindset
Strong ownership and ability to move problems forward without waiting for perfect specs
Motivated by building in a startup environment and being close to product and real-world impact
How We Like to Work
We aim to build a team of high-agency builders - people who take initiative, move problems forward, and don’t wait for permission to improve things.
You’ll likely do well here if you:
Take ownership
Focus on outcomes, not just outputs
Move ideas forward quickly through testing and iteration
Communicate clearly and give direct, no-B.S. feedback
Collaborate effectively across disciplines
Stay comfortable operating in ambiguity
Are curious about AI and how technology reshapes work
Granter is still early in its journey, and we are serious about creating an environment where things get built. People here tend to befriend each other and often stay engaged with the team beyond the strict boundaries of work. We regularly spend time together through team activities and startup ecosystem events.
If that excites you, we’d love to hear from you. If it scares you, this may not be the right place, and that’s okay.
Location Requirement
This role requires physical presence in Lisbon.
Please do not apply if you are not currently based in Lisbon.
