DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer
Lisbon (Hybrid)
Granter is building an AI Grant Consultant, an AI agent that handles grants for your organization, end-to-end. It helps companies discover funding opportunities, draft stronger proposals faster, and manage funded projects after approval.
Our mission is to enable businesses of all sizes to leverage incentives to grow and innovate. We are deeply involved in the Portuguese startup ecosystem and were the winners of the Web Summit Pitch Competition 2025.
We are now looking for a DevOps & Infrastructure Engineer to own the foundation everything else is built on.
You have two goals:
Keep the platform solid - own the Azure-based infrastructure, environments, and observability.
Make the team fast - own the CI/CD pipelines that let engineers build, test, and ship reliably.
A core part of the role is bringing AI into the development pipeline - automating testing, documentation, code review, and pipeline optimization in ways that multiply what the team can do. DevOps is being reinvented by AI, and this role has real space to lead that.
What This Role Involves
Own the Azure cloud environment and foundational infrastructure the whole platform runs on
Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines so engineers can ship reliably and fast
Automate infrastructure with Terraform - reproducible, versioned, easy to reason about
Keep test environments healthy and mirroring production
Improve developer experience: faster builds, simpler local setup, tighter feedback loops
Introduce AI-assisted automations across testing, documentation, code review, and pipeline optimization
Own observability and reliability - so problems are caught early and understood quickly
Partner with QA on the environments and pipelines their testing runs in
What We Are Looking For
We care more about evidence than years, but this role requires solid, hands-on experience running real infrastructure in production.
Experience
4+ years in DevOps or a similar engineering role
Proven track record building CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure that other engineers depend on
Core Skills
Strong experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker)
Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g. GitHub Actions)
Hands-on experience operating a major cloud environment (Azure strongly preferred)
Comfortable scripting in Python, Bash, or similar
Solid understanding of networking, security, and observability fundamentals
Additional Plus
Experience with Kubernetes or other container orchestration
Experience working in a startup environment
Familiarity with LLM-based features or AI systems in production
Exposure to AI tools in DevOps (testing, documentation, pipeline optimization)
Familiarity with Django, Celery, or similar backend stacks
Communication
Clear and direct communicator
Able to document issues clearly and make them easy to act on
Fluent in English and Portuguese
Location requirement
This role requires physical presence in Lisbon. Please do not apply if you are not currently based in Lisbon.
Mindset
High standards and a strong sense of ownership
Strong structured thinking and problem solving
Perseverance to go deep and do the work required to get things right
Curiosity about how AI systems work and reshape engineering workflows
How We Like to Work
We aim to build a team of high-agency builders - people who take initiative, move problems forward, and don’t wait for permission to improve things.
You’ll likely do well here if you:
Take ownership
Focus on outcomes, not just outputs
Move ideas forward quickly through testing and iteration
Communicate clearly and give direct, no-B.S. feedback
Collaborate effectively across disciplines
Stay comfortable operating in ambiguity
Are curious about AI and how technology reshapes work
Granter is still early in its journey, and we are serious about creating an environment where things get built. People here tend to befriend each other and often stay engaged with the team beyond the strict boundaries of work. We regularly spend time together through team activities and startup ecosystem events.
If that excites you, we’d love to hear from you. If it scares you, this may not be the right place, and that’s okay.
