The partnership between Granter and Fidelidade began even before the AI Grant Consultant was fully conceptualized. At that stage, the first version of the platform supported the preparation of early SIFIDE drafts, helping Fidelidade streamline part of its internal processes.
The collaboration continued during the Protechting Program, where Granter took part in mentorship activities with the Fidelidade, Fosun, and Hospital da Luz Learning Health teams, and it was later selected for the China Roadshow, where engaged with potential new partners and investors.
Throughout this journey, Fidelidade offered valuable operational insights. Their processes, challenges, and expectations played a central role in shaping and refining the platform.
The Challenge
Complex coordination across teams and opportunities
Fidelidade already maintained a well-structured grant application workflow. However, the complexity of coordinating efforts across multiple stakeholders, including companies within the group, diverse departments (e.g. innovation, finance), and external consultants, created significant operational friction.
SIFIDE Applications
As one of the most relevant incentives for the Fidelidade Group, SIFIDE (the Portuguese tax incentive for corporate R&D) demanded careful management.
Given the size of Fidelidade and the number of eligible projects, the team had to handle numerous applications simultaneously, each demanding intensive coordination between departments before involving the external consultants.
The core challenge was to accelerate the pre-consultant phase and deliver high-quality draft applications (complete, coherent, and well-structured) ready for final review and submission.
Limited reach beyond national grants
Despite a mature internal process for SIFIDE, Fidelidade’s engagement with European grant opportunities remained minimal.
The main barriers included a fragmented ecosystem with calls spread across multiple portals, lengthy and complex documentation, and unclear eligibility criteria, all of which often led to missed opportunities due to time constraints or lack of awareness.
As a result, expanding into European grants required a more structured, efficient and scalable approach to identify, evaluate, and pursue relevant opportunities.
Solution
A specialized pilot with two agents
To address these challenges, Granter implemented a pilot program tailored to Fidelidade. Two agents were developed and trained using detailed information about Fidelidade’s business and past applications. One agent was dedicated to Fidelidade Companhia de Seguros, the other to FID I&D.
The pilot currently deploys two core modules:
Objectives
From efficiency gains to broader funding reach

Save time
Reduce the time spent on drafting and coordination by up to 90%
Optimize and accelerate the preparation process for SIFIDE applications, while ensuring high-quality submissions to the consultants.
Status
Live deployment and ongoing evaluation
The pilot is currently in its initial phase of a planned 12-month cycle.
Onboarding is complete, the two agents are live, and the platform is actively being used to identify new opportunities and begin drafting applications. Preliminary results will be evaluated at the 6-month mark.
